Whichever way you look at it, having a c section is a major operation and it is actually classed as major abdominal surgery, so it’s not something to be taken lightly.

Yet many women and doctors opt for a planned c section in preference to a natural birth.

There are many reasons for this, not least of all the fact that surgical procedures and hospital staff have become so good at their jobs, that it may in many cases be considered to be the safest and easiest option. It can be planned for a particular time on a certain day, after lunch for a busy surgeon for example.

But there may also be slightly more underhand reasons for many women being steered towards this decision. The article here discusses this theory in greater detail, but be warned reading this my shock you – planned c section

 

There are 2 main types of c section operation. Thoses are an emergency c section and an elective c section.

An elective c section is one that has been prior arranged to happen on a certain time and day. An emergency c section is where the only concern is getting both mom and baby through in one piece. In this instance the key priority is to get the baby out as quickly as possible because there may have been some sort of complication with the birth.
